In college, I enrolled myself in a film printing course. It was fun because you get to familiarize yourself in the dark room and produce prints from your own 35mm. There was also the fun part looking like idiot shooting otherwise unnoticed lame ordinary object(look of confusion from the onlookers as they stared at me). I was almost get arrested by an undercover university police for having mistakenly accused stealing a camera from an apartment. It was sorted out later right there but imagine my embarassment after all the siren screaming from the patrol car as the undercover requested for back-up. Really glad I did not have to spend time in the slammer...and ended having self potrait a.k.a mug shot taken by the police..heheh. Anyway, the beauty of B&W print is that it can make dull color subject interesting. In this digital age, I figure that if the color of the subject looks boring, you could at a press of a button transform it into B&W image.Easy.
